Ryan Tuerck Wins Formula D Driver of the Year

At the annual Formula D awards banquet in Long Beach there were several awards given out throughout the night but none were more sought after than the "€œDriver of the Year"€ award. Debuting this season with his new Gardella Racing team, not much was expected of Tuerck and his almost stock Pontiac Solstice GXP but that'€™s where they all got it wrong, as Tuerck stole the show all season and came away with the 2008 Formula D Driver of the Year award.

Tuerck started off his season by finishing in the €œgreat 8€ at his first 2008 Formula Drift event in the streets of Long Beach. The rest of the season only got better as he earned a podium finish at the Atlanta round. Tuerck had a stellar first season reaching as high as fifth place in the FD ladder and finishing in the top 10 once the championship points were totaled.

The weapon Tuerck used to dispose of his competitors is a 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP and that is pretty much it. Pop open the hood and you'€™ll only find some minor upgrades, which is a great testimony to the Pontiac Solstice GXP. Tuerck even runs the factory transmission throughout the grueling Formula D season!

From all of us here at GMTunerSource, Congratulations Ryan Tuerck for winning the 2008 Formula D Driver of the Year award. You can check out some cool shots of Tuerck in action here.
