Putting Ryan Tuerck in the seat of his Solstice and sending him out on the track is like pointing a loaded gun at his competitors. Tuerck’s speed and angle was on point all night and allowed him to best the likes of Gushi and Waldin in order to make his way into the Top 8 where he then faced Drift heavyweights Tanner Foust and Tyler McQuarrie. These battles were not easily won but Ryan made it look like another day at the office as he took out Foust in the Final 4. The stage was then set for the championship battle – Tuerck vs. McQuarrie.
Both drivers started off well in their engagement by hitting good lines into the corners although in the first go around McQuarrie seemed to have an edge on Tuerck as he really gave it his all to beat out the feisty Solstice. McQuarrie held an aggressive drift angle though all the corners during his lead which meant Tuerck would have to step up his game to take home the win. Ryan did exactly that but Tyler wasn’t having any of it as he matched Ryan turn for turn – until he pushed a little too hard going into the 4th clipping point and spun out around the apex of the turn. That single mistake gave Tyler a zero for the run and gave Tuerck the win at Round 7 in Irwindale!
