Round 3 of the 2010 Formula Drift season is almost upon us and to help grow some on-track support for all of the teams running GM vehicles, Mobil 1 has stepped up to the plate to help GMTS bring one lucky fan and a guest, trackside, VIP-style for the Formula Drift event  on June 4th-5th in Wall, NJ. VIP-style the GMTS way means that you’ll get one-on-one time with GM Sport Compact Racing icon and Gardella Racing team owner Gary Gardella as well as face time with the driver of the Mobil 1 Pontiac Solstice, Ryan Tuerck.

In addition to the meet-n-greet with some of the sport of Drifting’s finest, there’s also a stash of Mobil 1 goodies that include stickers, shirt, foam finger and much more that is mixed into the pot for the lucky winner. ECOtec-powered vehicles have dominated the FWD Sport Compact Drag Racing scene ever since they first rolled into the NDRA series back in the day. These drag-prepped ECOtecs produce up to 1400hp and literally leave competitors in the dust. All year long, CSI (Charlie Schafer Industries) has been rocking the Mobil 1/Borg Warner Chevy Cobalt at Drag Racing events across the county and spreading the ECOtec love along the way.

At NOPI'€™s first Sportsman Only event this past weekend in Maryland the CSI team didn'€™t take any chances on their approach to this race. "We are running the car just like at the national events and not taking anything for granted,"€ stated Team Owner, Charlie Schafer at the start of the race. It was a good thing too, as the team still had to abide by the NOPI sanctioned by NHRA rules and qualified an impressive 3rd place.

The Chevy Cruze is a proven performer in the WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) series and has captured the hearts and minds of Sport Compact lovers already. We're excited to see what the Cruze has in store for us here in the states so our eyes are always open for anything Cruze we can find - which brings us to our Friday video.
