Bruno Massell Jr. Wins "Best Engineered" in Vegas

At GM Racing, we're proud of all our wins and successes. But there's something about "Best Engineered" that tugs at our heartstrings.

Bruno Massell took home the Best Engineered award at NHRA's national event in Las Vegas on April 15th. Bruno runs a rear-wheel-drive, ECOtec-powered Chevy Cobalt in the relatively new DD/AT category of NHRA Competition Eliminator.

NHRA's Comp Eliminator class is a sea of V-8-powered cars. Bruno's turbo-charged ECOtec is an anomaly, making this award particularly touching for us ECOtec fans. My eyes really did well up (I swear).

Bruno's Chevy Cobalt is a Jerry Bickel chassis, with custom fabrication by Bruno Sr. and a carbon-fiber body. The race-prepared ECOtec engine is boosted with a Turbonetics turbo-charger and uses a Big Stuff 3 fuel-injection system. WyoTech, the nation’s leading tech school, sponsors them.

Check out more pictures of Bruno and his team on our flickr gallery.

If you've watched the NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Drag Racing on ESPN2, you might recognize that Bruno is a host of the show. If you haven't seen it, yet, you can start watching the new season beginning July 10th.
