Last week we got word that famed race car driver and former Assistant Chief Director for Corvette and Director of the GM Performance Division John Heinricy would be driving around in a Cobalt SS Turbo that was fitted with the upcoming LNF Stage 1 kit. Upon hearing that, we reached out to you to send us questions that you would like to see John answer about his thoughts on the LNF Stage 1 kit. We compiled those questions and shot them over to John, who after spending some time getting to know the Stage 1 Cobalt SS better, answered them for the GMTS fans. We're excited to have John on here for you guys so without further ado, here is his take on the Cobalt SS LNF Stage 1 kit and answers to just about all of your questions.

There has been a lot of coverage of the Cobalt SS Turbo Stage kits on GMTS lately and for good reason - it's kind of big deal. However, even with all the coverage of the kit, the talk around town from all of you has all been "I want to drive it!" Not ones to let anyone down, GMTS and Bill Duncan, Design System Engineer at GM HPVO, teamed up to get some enthusiasts some seat time in a Stage 1 equipped 2010 Cobalt SS Turbo. Bill was actually so excited to see what fans and current SS Turbo owners would think of the kit, that he went out this past weekend to several stops in Southern Michigan to see fans reactions and answer questions firsthand.

We’ve been working hard over here to bring all of you the latest on the LNF Stage kits as the information becomes available. As we released more and more information it seems we received more and more questions, from you, about the LNF Stage kit. Is it a good deal? Why doesn’t it deliver X amount more horsepower? Will it turn my Cobalt SS Turbo into a chick magnet? While we’ve worked with the great folks over at GM to get answers to every one of your questions, one seems to still linger around – why doesn’t the LNF Stage 1 make more horsepower than the LSJ Stage 2 kit? While this may seem like a ridiculous question it deserves an answer. So we got with Bill Duncan over at GM HPVO again and he helped us explain the answer a little better.

It's all Cobalt all the time here lately at GMTS! Well we just received a small update and in our true form of releasing info as soon as we get it in, here we go. It comes direct from deep inside as we now have confirmation that there is a Cobalt LNF running around town with the infamous stage 1 kit on it. We just got a call from a friend that was driving the car and pulled over on the side of the road and he seemed a little out of breath.

In GMTS's effort to keep a constant vigil surrounding any and all news we receive about the upcoming LNF Turbo Upgrade Kit, we bring you a small update with some timelines of production plans. While no official release date has announced for the Cobalt SS Turbo Stage 1 Kit because of CARB certification timeliness, we can begin to speculate that date with the help of the following information.

There has been a lot of excitement from everyone about the Cobalt LNF Upgrade Kit and for good reason; it will add some serious kick to your Cobalt. Like with anything this popular though, there are a good amount of questions. The voice of the Cobalt community is being heard inside GM! The team in charge of the Cobalt LNF Turbo Upgrade has seen the comments left on the Petition post and have been working tirelessly to deliver a kit that will meet all the demands and expectations left by all of the owners there. We’ve been doing our fair share of hootin’ and hollerin’ over here saying that this kit will let you dominate the streets, make mince meat out of your competition, etc and we’re just glad that the folks at GM aren’t going to make us eat our words.

The LNF Turbo Upgrade Kit for the Cobalt SS Turbo is going to bring the Cobalt SS into a whole new arena in terms of performance and power output and is the only upgrade available to enthusiasts that want to retain their factory warranty. In addition, GM wants to make sure that regardless of which one of the 50 United States you live in, that you will be able to enjoy this new upgrade. That ability comes via the form of a CARB EO approval and is the main hurdle that the team in charge of the upgrade has to deal with to bring this upgrade to all enthusiasts across the country.

Creating any sort of factory-backed performance upgrade is a task that is destined to be plagued with issues.
