2011 Camaro Upgrades, Pricing, Options, Released

Written by Corey Mullane | Tuesday, 01 June 2010 | 13 comments

Over 75,000 versions of the venerable iconic muscle car named Camaro have been sold in its first year back from an eight year hiatus. Seemingly catching the rest of the automotive world by surprise, the 2010 Camaro stole the hearts of all who saw it pass by and the minds of all who got to take this 5th generation slice of America for a spin. So what is in store for the second year of the Camaro? Let’s see.

Right out of the gate, the V6 Camaro shows just who is the king of the horsepower mountain with 312 ponies nestled underneath the bonnet. Funny enough, apparently the Camaro has always had 312 horsepower. It’s just the tricky folks in the RenCen only certified the 2010 V6 at 304hp as bait for the 2011 Mustang which falls a bit short again for the 2011 model year with only 305 hp. And having driven said 312hp Camaro, we can assure you that the thing hauls tail like nobody’s business. Even with the automatic gearbox leaving our left foot twitching for action, the Camaro still pulls off faster pulls through the 1/4 than the LSJ-powered Cobalt SS, which is an impressive feat.

It’s not all about smoking the tires off the alloys though. There’s a couple more goodies added for 2011 to bring the Camaro even more into the future. For starters, the 2LT and 2SS packages will come standard with the heads-up-display developed on the Corvette and popularized on other high-end GM vehicles. The Camaro-specific HUD will be happy to assist in displaying any one of the following parameters of your choosing: vehicle speed, tachometer, compass, outside air temperature, shift gear indicator, OnStar turn-by-turn directions, audio functions, phone information and vehicle messages. With this addition, both of the trim packages will also carry a $350 premium over the 2010 model year MSRP.

To top it all off, the popular “Synergy Green” color option previously only available on the 1LT will be available to be sprayed onto any Camaro for only $325 greenbacks. This option was added because of the outcry by YOU to make your voices heard across GM that this color is something you want on the Camaro you want and not just the 1LT. That should be a lesson learned that GM is really listening to all of YOU for what you’re looking for in your favorite cars and trucks. If you really want something, make your voice heard! To fully cover off on all of the extras for 2011, it should also be noted that Rally Yellow is now also a special charge color option and a Hurst short-throw shifter can be had as a factory option for only $380.

So there you have it. The 2011 Camaro is ready to get to work, play or whatever else you may have planned for this king of muscle cars. Is there anything missing from the 2011 Camaro that’s missing from your wish list? Let us know what makes your perfect muscle car in the comments below.

2011 v8 1/4 mile times... 13.7-MUSTANG! 14.4-CAMARO! NUFF SAID! GOOD JOB FORD. Ford's 5.0 makes about 435 horsepower, but the Camaro uses 1.2 more liters to make about 10 less horsepower. Ford 2011 v6 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.7 at 102.0 mph. Mustang GT tipped the scales at 3,144 pounds. The camaro is a thick 461-pound difference, like having two guys nicknamed "Chubby" in the car at all times.
Between the 2011 v6 and the 5.0 GT, every Camaro owner has now officially pissed their pants.
our 5.0 needed just 4.3 seconds to hit 60 and only 12.8 at 110.8 mph to knockout the quarter mile. To answer the million-dollar question: Yes, it's quicker than both the 426-horsepower Chevy Camaro SS (4.5, 12.9 at 110.7) and the 425-horse Dodge Challenger SRT-8 (4.6, 13.1 at 108.4). It's also not that far behind the 540-horse supercharged 2010 Shelby GT500, which requires 4.1 and 12.4 at 116.0. In the league of naturally aspirated muscle cars, the new Mustang GT is in a league of its own.

    Mustang 5.0 = 412hp
    Camaro SS = 426hp

    Mustang 5.0 Weight = 3612 lbs
Camaro SS Weight = 3863 lbs

Mustang 5.0 is a terrific car but your stats are totally off. Does a calculator come in the Fanboi-edition Mustang?

yes we all know that ford nailed the 2011 5.0 mustang right on the head...it's about time. It's a pretty good car now, you have a reason to be excited. I guess after realizing that my stock Cobalt SS could handle a GT, and the Camaro's V6 had almost as much horsepower as the GT's V8, they decided a change was needed. It's just a shame you had to be a douche-bag and try to rub it in our faces like all the typical queer mustang fanboi's do whenever they get a chance. Good job, you've officially exited the closet.

there is no way this new pony will ever hit this "alleged times" from motortrend, especially by anyone in the real world! how about the 13.2 secs that caranddriver noted on the 5slow and 14.2 for the v6? how about roadandtrack? they have the 5.slow running 2/10ths slower than the camaro too! thats .2 of a sec fyi. on both these magazines the camaro was either 12.9 or 13s flat. your forgot to read those articles did you. its good pony, but not that good. GM will kill ford once they come out with direct injection nn their pushrod engines and just like my boy said Good job, you've officially exited the closet.

The Camaro is easily the most liked macho car in recent times. I work in the Middle East in a Chevrolet showroom. It is absolutely fantastic sales in the year 2009 and 2010. The Arabs just loved it more than any other car in its category. The 2011 Camaro V6 is really awesome upgrade with its new features. I have test driven it a couple of times and it is out of the world experience for me. I am still getting used to coming to ground from the ecstasy.
