LNF Upgrade Kit Update – Part 2. Are You Ready?!

Written by Corey Mullane | Monday, 08 June 2009 | 0 comments

Creating any sort of factory-backed performance upgrade is a task that is destined to be plagued with issues. However, the great folks over at GM Performance Parts are experts in this arena and have fought hard to deliver a performance upgrade tailored to exactly what Cobalt SS Turbocharged owners are looking for. This is important while developing performance upgrades that will let you toast your tires without toasting your warranty. Now this is where it gets good. We know all of you have been waiting rather patiently for some news and updates and we have been waiting patiently to deliver something to you.

The original intention was to release one single upgrade, like the rest of the LNF-powered vehicles upgrade kits. However, once we released news of the upcoming kit and the owners spoke up, we were left with some good points. Lots of good feedback was left here on the GMTS page and all of it was looked at individually. So we are proud to announce that now Cobalt SS owners will be given a chance to pick their poison.

The Cobalt LNF Upgrade Kit will be split into two kits to pacify both mindsets of tuners. The “Stage 1” kit will come complete with a reflash (that must be dealer installed) and a few MAP sensors that will let your PCM more accurately read the higher boost pressures present in the upgrade. These goodies will net you 275hp and the new reflash will also remove the “learn-down” of the factory PCM so that all of your aftermarket modifications will be allowed to make the power you expect them to make. We are very excited how this kit is playing out and think that once you wrap your head around how much this is going to open up the possibilities of performance for the LNF, you will be as well. Efforts are being pushed hard to have this kit available to all of you by the end of June.

The “Stage 2” kit will consist of everything in the Stage 1 kit, plus a new inlet duct and air cleaner. This will let your Cobalt breath a little easier and because of this, the kit will put down 290hp. Since the new hardware must be tested to the tried and true tests of GMPP, the Stage 2 kit will take a little longer to reach your local GM parts counter, about 3 months, but when it does you can rest assured you’ll be rolling with the best parts around.

So get ready! Factory-backed power is right around the corner, courtesy of your friends at GM Performance Parts. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post them here. We will be working to get you answers etc. Thanks for your patience. You will be rewarded in great fashion!
