Chevy Aveo RS Kills It!

Written by Corey Mullane | Wednesday, 13 January 2010 | 0 comments
The Aveo started off life in 2002 as a small car destined for never having the words, fun, cool or sporty ever being associated with it. With new GM comes new vision though, and if the new Chevy Aveo RS concept is any indication of what the next Aveo will look like, well you just might see a picture of the Aveo next to any of the those three words in the next revision of the dictionary.

Keep in mind this is a show car that is intended to gauge reaction, so many of the attributes that make you salivate on this vehicle might not make it to your local dealer. That being said, if this Aveo hit the streets in its current form, it wouldn’t stay on dealer lots long enough to admire anyway. In order to get a look in person you’ll just have to join the hordes of tuners that will be chasing the lucky drivers out on the road that got to it before you did.

Quick performance rundown of the Aveo RS: 19-inch wheels, a M32 six-speed mated to the 138hp 1.4L Turbocharged ECOtec out of the Cruze. The Aveo 5, the RS’s predecessor, weighs in at around only 2500lbs. If the Aveo RS can stick close to that weight we have a winner winner chicken dinner – especially if they release a Stage Kit to add some extra boost to the mix! The Aveo RS doesn’t just offer the possibility of what looks like new school, more powerful, domestic CRX from back in the day, it also brings the goods on the interior as well. Motorcycle inspired gauges, paint-matched stitching on the dash and seats and lacquer black HVAC and radio means that the inside is as sexy as the outside.

Overall the Aveo RS is not something you expect at the Aveo’s price point, but it is a VERY welcome treat should we see this concept green lit with at least some of goodies we’re treated to here.

Check out the gallery of pictures below, and the cool animation video, and let the General know if this is something you’d like to see parked in your driveway!
