See-Ya: HHR SS Production Ends June 4

It’s been quite a ride for the HHR SS. Introduced as a 2008 model late in 2007, the HHR SS was the first taste enthusiasts had of the potent turbocharged LNF powerplant outside of a roadster in the SKY/Solstice. Finally, 260hp of turbocharged 4-cylinder ECOtec power turned a retro-grocery getter into a serious drag strip competitor. Not only was the performance bottom line improved to help the HHR nameplate lay waste to the naysayers but the HHR SS also received a facelift with a new aggressive front and rear fascias, 18-inch wheels and a lower ride-height with help from a revised race-tuned suspension that kept the HHR SS firmly planted to the road during its record 8:43 lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife - this certainly wasn’t your grandma’s station wagon.

The HHR SS continued to rack up accolades throughout its life as more and more enthusiasts experienced the SS for themselves. Last year was an exciting year for the HHR SS too, as the model line received both a Turbo Upgrade Kit (LNF Stage 1) and a new Panel variant. The Turbo Upgrade Kit was a GMPP upgrade with full warranty coverage that allowed any HHR SS to achieve over 300 lb.-ft of torque! Some serious power for what most would consider a daily driver vehicle.

All good things must come to an end though and sadly, such is the case with the HHR SS. Come June 4, 2010 the last HHR SS will roll off the line forever. All is not lost though as orders can still be placed for your very own rockin’ retro wagon. So if you’re looking for a performance bargain with a practical nature, head on over to your local Chevy dealer and lock in your very own HHR SS before orders fill up.

Chevy HHR SS – 2008-2010 – Admired by enthusiasts, loved by owners.
