GM Reveals New GT2 Class Corvette C6.R
After almost a decade of trouncing every competitor, the reign of supremacy for Corvette Racing in the GT1 class is over. With no foes left to battle, the team at Corvette Racing is ready to draw blood again, even if they have to change classes to do it. Out of the GT1 ashes comes a GT2 phoenix and might we say, this phoenix is a looker. Not only does the new C6.R make us do a double take but it also is ripe with new hardware on the inside to meet GT2 class requirements. That being said, it’s a big day for Corvette Racing and an even bigger day for their new GT2 competitors, as they have to start worrying about exacting what the Corvette Racing slogan "Take No Prisoners" entails.
New 5.5L V8 for GT2 Corvette to be launched at Sebring
When the Corvette Racing team decided to make the switch to the GT2 class last August, many aspects of the current car needed to be addressed in order for it to meet the new GT2 class requirements. For a short-term fix, a 6.0L version of the 7.0L GT1 powerhouse was created to meet demand. However, with revised rules regulating GT vehicles for 2010 and some off-season time, the crew at Corvette Racing has been developing a more production-based engine alternative - enter the new 5.5L V8.
