Wednesday May 23

A cold and rainy morning turned into a beautiful afternoon for the Chevy Cobalt drag cars and Pontiac Solstice drift cars at NOPI'€™s Englishtown event. The pro drag racing teams got only one shot at qualifying, but it was enough for Gary Gardella to put his Chevy Cobalt at the top of the Pro FWD class with a 7.12 second run. Chevy racer Marty Ladwig was in the second spot in Pro FWD, and Bryan Jimenez grabbed the same spot in the Hot Rod class. The Turbo Street class was able to squeeze in two qualifying rounds. Brian Ballard landed in the top spot, piloting his Cobalt to a run of 9.518 seconds at 152.90mph.

There'€™s no disguising that we here at GM love to race. Just look around this site a bit and you will see loads of evidence on that. Not only do we love to compete, but we really love to win!

Don Nase's victory in his ECOtec-powered dragster completed a trifecta of victories for GM Racing Teams in Budds Creek.

We couldn'€™t be more proud of our GM Racing teams this year with all that they have accomplished.

We almost completed the first sport compact drag race of the 2008 season. Intermittent rain, coupled with track oil-downs, disrupted the eliminations schedule on Sunday at Moroso Motorsports Park. Some classes were completed, including Pro FWD and All Motor. The finals for Hot Rod will be run during the second round of qualifying at Englishtown in May. Chevy driver Bryan Jimenez will be competing for the win.

NOPI Atco (and Atlanta Re-run)

It was a busy and blustery weekend in Atco, New Jersey for the NOPI Drag Race event. It'€™s not easy to keep everything straight when you'€™re essentially running two events in one, but I'€™ll do my best to summarize everything for you.

At NOPI'€™s first Sportsman Only event this past weekend in Maryland the CSI team didn'€™t take any chances on their approach to this race. "We are running the car just like at the national events and not taking anything for granted,"€ stated Team Owner, Charlie Schafer at the start of the race. It was a good thing too, as the team still had to abide by the NOPI sanctioned by NHRA rules and qualified an impressive 3rd place.

CSI Racing Turns Up The Heat

CSI Racing is the race team that makes it all happen for some of GM'€™s favorite racers, including Jason Hunt, Brian Ballard and Ali Aljibouri. Recently some of the aforementioned racers have been diving into competitions where a FWD four-cylinder isn'€™t the norm. But hey, that just makes it more fun!

NDRA Dallas! The first event of the season is always exciting. And a little nerve racking. Marty Ladwig brought out his brand-new, never-been-run Chevy Cobalt Pro Outlaw FWD car.

This weekend, both he and Jason Hunt are running a new F.A.S.T. XFI controller, wiring harness, and Enginuity shift controller. We started on Marty's car Friday evening and struggled to get it to run right.
