Brian Ballard Sets FWD Street Car World Record
Written by Corey Mullane Monday, 24 November 2008
GM Racing and CSI Racing seem to build these ECOTEC motors like bomb shelters; they seem to be so incredibly strong and make so much power that bystanders confuse all the noise for some sort of science experiment gone wrong. Well, Brian Ballard got behind the wheel of his 900hp "science fair" project at the latest World Cup event at MIR and wrestled it 1,320 feet faster than anyone in history has done in a FWD street car. Ballard and his 2.1L Mobil 1 / Borg Warner powered Chevy Cobalt did the deed in only 8.96 seconds, blasting the rest of the 16 car field out of the water.
Ballard also took home the World Cup for the Wild Street category in which he ran during the competition. You can check out the video of the pass and watch all the boys from CSI racing go nuts after the jump.
Congratulations to Brian Ballard and all the guys at CSI Racing for their monumental achievement, which is just another brick in the wall for the record-breaking ECOTEC power plant.
