Cadillac Re-Ignition Ad Spot

Video

Cadillac Re-Ignition Commercial

GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz has not been coy about expressing his feelings on GM's advertising of old. Lutz wants advertising that showcases the cars themselves and can also help "recapture the attention of the American public." And with new cars that turn heads it only makes sense that the advertising should do the same. Cadillac has some exciting products coming down the pipe with vehicles like the upcoming CTS Coupe and (drool) CTS-V Coupe so it stands to reason that we should see some hot, new, creative advertising that showcases these new products right?

This new Cadillac ad we spotted over the Labor Day weekend definitely does the trick and got our attention with its imaginative visuals that showcased the gorgeous new Cadillac crest-laden vehicles. We guess Lutz was serious when he said, "I think you will very quickly see a drastic change in the tone and content of our advertising." Well done Bob.

The future of Cadillac is good. In a way it has a chance to be really great. With more enthusiasts getting older and making more money, there is a transition from smaller sub-compact style cars to higher end cars like BMW, Mercedes and Audi etc - so why shouldn't Cadillac get involved here? At one time Cadillac may have been looked at as an older person's brand, but that has changed. Also, with the new products coming out, we think you may see more and more youth look towards Cadillac to fuel their passion, especially with the upcoming Cadillac ATS. Question is, will Cadillac be willing to look back? Interesting thought here. Chime in on your perspective. You can check out Lutz's vision on the future of GM's advertising and direction in the ad spot below:

Very cool. I like the idea of Cadillac getting more aggressive. lets face it, they could use a good shot in the arm and some interest from the youth market. All of their competitors have youth buying their cars, but you never really hear Cadillac as an option for people that are looking for a purchase like this. Let's face it, there are a lot of young people that are doing well and buy cars in this price range, but want their purchase to have a certain level of style and prestige. Not to mention performance. Cadillac would do really well to put a little attention to the next generation of Caddy buyers.

Lets see how they respond huh?
