Video Friday: Chevy Cruze WTCC Race Car

The Chevy Cruze is a proven performer in the WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) series and has captured the hearts and minds of Sport Compact lovers already. We're excited to see what the Cruze has in store for us here in the states so our eyes are always open for anything Cruze we can find - which brings us to our Friday video.

While browsing Facebook (we’re working we swear!) we came across a cool video posted by the Mobil 1 Facebook page about the Chevy Cruze WTCC car that Mobil 1 supports. In case you weren’t aware, Mobil 1 factory fills some of top vehicles in the world including Porsches, the Nissan GT-R, Corvette ZR1, AMG Mercedes and of course, the LSJ and LNF ECOtecs. Mobil 1 has supported a lot of GM Racing’s efforts in the Sport Compact community so it was a natural fit for Mobil 1 to get involved in GM’s next Sport Compact vehicle, the Chevy Cruze. Mobil 1 has put together a cool video on what goes into making the Cruze a winner on the track that they have just posted on their Facebook page. Go check out the video for yourself and while you’re there show some support for Mobil 1 and become a fan of their Facebook page.

As of right now, we are still hoping and praying for a Cruze SS to be approved by the powers at be at GM. GM veteran and overall car guy Bob Lutz gave us some interesting news this past Tuesday during a web chat where he stated that the "while we're not ready to announce an SS version [of the Chevy Cruze], you can bet that we'll come up with some sort of high-performance derivative." We call dibs!

I can't wait to see this car in person! I definitely would like to see an SS version with the performance as great as or better than the Cobalt SS. I read elsewhere that this car is supposed to have a next generation interior that eliminates a lot of squeaks and rattles common in Cobalts, this would be a great step forward for General Motors.
