has there been word on if any of these manufacturers have commented or agreed to participate in this comparison? Or if they're even doing it still? I imagine if they're having trouble with the stage kit this isn't going to be at the top of the list of things to do... - 09SSTurbo

Time to put in my two cents.

If enough of us, as consumers of their products, were to email the manufacturers and request their participation in this UNBIASED testing event who, or where, would we ask THEM to respond. I agree with everybody else here that this would be Earth shaking. And a chance for the manufacturers to pump up their collective chests and show off their stuff. OR NOT!!

For the time being maybe everybody that does invite a manufacturer post that manufacturers replies, if any, here. I have my doubts that many would accept the challenge. But it would be worth the try. - buellfooll

Donny, just to pipe up here for these guys. Doing a test like this is not an easy thing or a quick turnaround. They have to setup a facility and car and intakes and installs etc. Not an easy undertaking. Cool of them to even be willing to look into it. - thankful

Corey,

What do you think? Is the ball rolling?
Has anyone stepped up?

I think we can get these guys to step up. Hell, if I made a product I charged $300 for and claimed dyno gains...I would want to back up my claims....

Taylor,

Great post. I just sent you an email. Get at me.

As for opening up the site for a forum - I think we are really close to do so. We wanted to see how well people would respond to V.3 of GMTS and how they interacted on the site with posts and comments, and as you can see we have had a good amount of success there.

As of having it more open to have owners like yourself talk about Aftermarket and GMPP - that's exactly what you're doing now here with comments etc. Are you talking about having a forum that all of you can sit and hang and share etc? If so - we think that's a very good idea as well. Let me know your thoughts so we can be more clear. Have a great day. - AndyWilliamson

Andy - I really do hope you guys open it up for us. The site is wonderful, i just wish it was more interactive to let the owners ( like myself) express how they feel about the Aftermarket and GMPP.

Also

Routs: I agree, we have been wanting this for a long time now.

SideNote: Andy im Taylor, Nice to meet you. Would you mind emailing me? louisiana_aau31@bellsouth.net

I would love to talk to you! - Mazdaboi318

Oh and while we are on the topic of things you guys can help us with, any chances you guys have connections to get us production numbers of Cobalts, especially the SS/SC and SS/TC for all of the model years? Even better if we had a break down of colour by model but that's probably stretching it a little far. Most of us would be interested in understanding just how "rare" some of our vehicles are... - Routs

Alpha - Sounds great to me! I'm sure every SS/TC owner would love to see an independent test like this. I don't know how willing the manufacturers would be to participate but they shouldn't have any issue if they are confident in their product. It would be cool if you could get them to "sponsor" the test by giving the intakes away as part of a contest help by this site...

Andy - Sounds great too! We all spend a lot of time on another site but I think we'd all be happy to have another central location to chat about our cars with other GM enthusiasts.

Thank you to both for your quick responses! - Routs

Love the feedback and comments. Just to update you, we are working on a few things for you here. It will take a little work to arrange a test like this - but we have it high on our list - so we are on it. We will keep you posted on how it's coming. How about this, if we run into snags good or bad - we will let you know what we are up against - so at least you are in the loop and informed.

Fair?

Mazdabo1318 - You had an interesting comment about - "GMtunersource should hold a chat session so we can discuss a lot of different topics! "

It's funny you ask this - because we have had a lot of people message us and ask us the same thing. We like the fact that we have opened up the comments here to provide all of you a place to talk and share and ask questions. But we built the V.3 Site for so much more and maybe it's time to open it up for that.

We built it to have a full community combined in the site, which will give all of you a place to talk, live, post, ask, share etc....

Now how does that sound? - AndyWilliamson

For those of us who's cars are still very stock this comparison would be a HUGE help with deciding on which one to go with. Maybe also try to compare some short ram intakes as well to cover the spectrum? And as said before...in a timely fashion as well! - 09SSTurbo

Clear Image Automotive cold air intake is complete now. They are filling orders now and shipping in the coming weeks.

Honestly, I am confused. Clear Image Automotive has been the top Vendor for the LNF engine, and no recognition? They offer the Charge Piping, Cold Air Intake, Downpipe, Exhaust, Tune.

I think that the GMtunersource should hold a chat session so we can discuss a lot of different topics!

alphajaguar5 and Routs - if you guys can get these manufacturers and/or supporting vendors to step to the plate and offer their intakes to be independently tested using the same dyno, the same car and the same PCM under very similar atmospheric conditions and engine temps it would be very beneficial. There is also Clear Image Automotive that has a Cold Air intake, but they are in pre-production, so I guess they are out for now....

If this could happen, and happen soon - I think that would be great for the Cobalt SS community. - Donny Brasco

Routs - Yeah, we'd love to give these 3 bad boys a shot under the hood of a new Cobalt SS Turbo and find out who can back up thier claims. We'll see if we can put something together for you guys to see which intake is worth your hard earned dough. - alphajaguar5

Excellent idea to include this info. I for one have several questions/requests...

It would be nice to see you take a stock SS/TC and..

1. Dyno it, please include both HP and TQ figures
2. Install new intake from each manufacturer that 'wants to play'
3. Post dyno figures for each.

My question is.. Does installing ANY of these aftermarket intakes VOID the warranty?

Thanks ahead of time for any info..

Please GMTS, take a stage 1 car dyno it, then do the same for these three intakes and dyno them! The GMPP intake needs to match or beat the numbers these companies can put out! - aterminatorz

Well put. We have no problem testing these intakes individually. We can reach out to them and see if they would like to have us do so. I am sure some would love it and some would be a bit nervous - as Routs you are right when saying that these tests are not based on the same car and conditions etc.

One things for sure though, most of these intakes are going to give you similar power and tq. Some may have better fit and finish etc. We can help explore that as well.

Corey - do you have anything to add here?

Okay, just so everyone is clear. The posted gains and attached dyno graphs are not with the Stage I kit in place. These are also not claims that have been tested by independent sources. These are claims directly from the manufacturers and are not all based on the same car with the same modifications. Take those graphs with a grain of salt...

Now if GMTS was to actually independently test all three of these intakes, then we'd have something to talk about. - Routs
